The Veterinarians and staff at The Animal Doctor hospital have chosen careers dedicated to the heath care and welfare of companion animals, and it is their goal to improve their quality of life through preventative and restorative health care. But who are they?
Dr. Shelly E. Wilson founded and built The Animal Doctor in 1995. Her vision was to create a hospital that provided current, high quality medical care for family pets in an atmosphere of warmth, caring, and understanding. She is a 1987 graduate of the Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to seeing and caring for dogs and cats, she has special interest and training in many exotic pets (pocket pets, rabbits, and ferrets) as well as behavioral disorders. Her own pets include Mickey Blue Eyes, a siamese kitty who gets into trouble regularly; Sheila, the princess kitty with a delicate voice; Cuff and Sideways, tortoises that love gardening; and Whoseyerdaddy, aka "Daddy," her equine partner and pal over hill and dale. Her favorite color? Those of you who have visited our practice already know: PURPLE!!
MaryKay is the hospital manager at The Animal Doctor. She has worked for Dr. Wilson since 1996. She started the veterinary field 15 years ago, cleaning kennels. She enjoys spending time with her family and beautiful daughter. Her extended family consists of a 8 year old pitbull Mojo, a 11 year old female black kitty named Angus, and a 3 year old male black kitty named Johnson. They run the roost and keep them smiling.
Olina is one of the two receptionists. She has been with Dr. Wilson since 1991, taking a short break in the middle. She loves spending time with her family. She loves to read books, listen to music, and "Go Dodgers!" Shes involved in soccer and softball with her daughter. She loves coming home everyday to her two Australian Cattle Dogs!
After attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, were she majored in Agriculture Science, Michaela has returned and has been enjoying her new position as Receptionist/Nurse. When she is not with her Animal Doctor family, she enjoys playing ladies tackle football for the IWFL sixes league, hosting Uncle Leo's Barn for children at the Ventura County Fair, and practicing to be be as crafty as Martha Stewart. When she is not busy with all her extra curricular activities she likes to spend time with her laborador retrivers and husband.
Shelly is one of our veterinary nurses and has been working for Dr. Wilson for about 5 years. Her life has been surrounded by family pets and wild animals. She loves and has owned horses, and has worked with wildlife veterinarians, even cleaning the teeth of lions, and tigers, and bears("oh my!") She loves her rewarding job at The Animal Doctor. When her day is complete she comes home to her 2 cats: MoJoJoJo, a black kitty from Germany, and Feet, a rescued persian from New York, who share the house with her and her husband.
Kimie is also a veterinary nurse and has been in the veterinary field for about 16 years. She engages in volunteer work with wolves and other charity groups. She likes to mountain bike ride, dance, read.("Harry Potter!") She loves her best-est boyz in the whole wide world, Tarzan and Misfit. She also does pet sitting in the Ventura beach area in her free time. She loves to stay busy.
Robin worked for Dr. Wilson for four years, took a short break, got married, and now has returned to us as veterinary nurse! She has two little poodles, Lilly(cute! )and Bentley(really cute!) , and a cockapoo named Tanner(so cute!) She also has two horses, Raven and Stretch. She has been training dogs since 1996. She likes to work out, show horses, and participate in agility courses with Tanner. Robin stays busy, but her dogs, aka "babies", run the household!
Trisha, also a veterinary nurse, has been working with Dr.Wilson for three years, starting as a kennel assistant. She has 5 dogs, Bree, Hutosh, Rocky, Sassy, and Sugar. All are rescues. She also has 3 cats, Mama's, Fantasia, and Elysia. Her household is also home to fish and an aviary filled with rescued birds. She has a horse named Calico. She loves her work at Animal Doctor because each day is different and because of the difference she can make in her patient's lives. She loves caring for her animals and watching movies in her free time. Trisha's future includes veterinary school-she promises to come back to us as Dr.Trisha!
